Strengthening Youth Education and Skills (YES) Program
Empowering today’s youth to build tomorrow’s leaders.
The YES Program is a flagship initiative of MGSW4W that equips young people in Sierra Leone with the education, skills, and confidence they need to succeed and contribute to their communities.
We believe that when youth are empowered with knowledge and opportunity, they become powerful agents of change.
Through the YES Program, we:
- Develop personal capacity and critical thinking to help youth make informed and confident decisions.
- Promote learning and creativity through reading clubs, computer literacy, and the arts.
- Build leadership and global exposure through regional and international exchange programs.
- Support education and career growth through post-secondary training, scholarships, and bursaries.
The YES Program inspires a new generation of leaders—equipped, empowered, and ready to shape a brighter future for Sierra Leone.
Guiding Principles and Core Values
- We believe in rights, responsibility, equality, and equity as guiding principles for justice, safety, sustainable peace, and development.
- We are committed to participation, respect, inclusion, diversity, and empowerment in all we do.
- We promote the active participation of all program participants across all operational areas—linking participation to social, economic, cultural, and political sectors.
- We are sensitive to gender dynamics and avoid stereotypical assumptions about the roles and aspirations of girls, boys, women, and men.
- We ensure inclusion at every stage of programming and value the diversity of participants and stakeholders.
- We empower participants to become self-determined in advancing themselves and their communities, ensuring everyone has the space to define and shape their own empowerment journey.
